GROWING
Matrix
Aloe Vera is certified Organically Grown by Quality Assurance
International, the recognized leader worldwide for Organic testing, and
is recognized by the Texas Department of Agriculture. Organically grown
means that we never use chemical fertilizers or pesticides on our
fields or plants. It also means that we follow a strict regimen of
working organic material back into the soil to keep the soil in peak
growing condition. In addition, precise record keeping of inputs and
harvesting keeps us in good standing.
Matrix
has two separate locations where we grow Aloe Vera. Each farm lie at
23.5° North of the equator and runs through Mexico, which provides the
best year round climate for these special lily plants. You might be
surprised to know that our fields are located in a valley with
mountains along the outer side of the valley. This is important because
the area is an old volcanic region and provides a very rich growing
soil. Our fields are irrigated with natural water sources as needed. We
observe our fields on a daily basis, paying special attention to the
maturity, leaf size, color and physical health of the plants and set up
a rotation based on harvesting the leaves at the best time.
HARVESTING
While
harvesting may not sound like a very important step in many natural
products, it is very important with Aloe Vera. Not only do you need to
harvest at the right time, but also the method of harvesting used is
critical. Each leaf is harvested by hand and must be nicked and pulled
carefully from the mother plant so as not to break the rind. Properly
taken, the leaves will naturally seal themselves within a short period
and the inside will not be exposed to oxidation or contamination. 
At
Improve, we went to great lengths to build processing facilities in
close proximity to our fields. This is so important because, with such
a short ride to our processing plants, the leaves remain fresher and
suffer less bruises and other damage that can occur in transporting.
Some companies require several days in getting their leaves to the
processing plant, while our leaves are already processed within a day.
PROCESSING
Matrix
makes the absolute best liquid Aloe Vera product. Our formula is
designed to retain the efficacy of the Aloe Vera plant as it is in
nature. We have invested in special equipment which applies as little
heat as possible to the Aloe Vera in all processing, knowing that heat
will break down some of the bioactive components. Our investment also
included equipment to speed the process, lessening the natural
degradation of this organic product. But most importantly are the
people trained to understand the overall goals of our processing as
well as each specific step.
Pure Aloe Vera is our No.1 ingredient. We do not simply add a few drops of aloe, we start with 100% inner gel and combine just enough of other ingredients as required. Our products are meticulously quality tested by a staff of microbiologists to assure our customers get consistent and effective benefits. Our stabilized aloe vera has been declared as essentially identical to the raw gel.
